H/D New Classics: Poll Results

Well, the voting is closed, and three hours later, I have the results tallied. But first let me say thank you to everyone who voted, nominated fics, provided information, pimped this, and expressed your support for the idea of a New Classics List. This was a fandom-wide project, one that wouldn't have worked without the cooperation of everyone involved. :)

If you would like to see all of the fics that were up for nomination and/or written in during the voting process (because they are all quite good, really), you can go here.

109 people participated in the poll. 102 by LJ-comment, 7 by email.
There were 783 votes total.
The most votes received by one fic was 40.
The least was 0.
21 fics were write-ins, 5 of which recieved more than one vote.


The Final List of New H/D Classics

1. Eclipse by [info]mijan: 40 votes
Summary: Draco swore his revenge on Harry for Lucius's imprisonment, and Harry all but laughed at him. But Draco is planning more than schoolyard pranks this time. Hey, wow, thanks. You did a heap of hard work on this, and I for one was surprised to see our fic listed. Thank you.

However, could we please ask that you fix the following errors with the way you have listed our fic?

The link you have linked to is NC17, and is certainly not a R rating - would hate for someone to discover that by mistake.

And the full title of the fic is Per Solum Lacuna: By Words Alone.
And the correct LJ names of the authors are [info]wintermoon3 and [info]azhure1. That's Azhure with a 'h'. the lj user azure has nothing to do with fic or slash, and is getting peeved about this.

Don't want to seem picky or rude, as it was both a surprise and an honour.

How could you NOT expect it? I think you had more fics up for contention than anyone else. Beyond the Wild Moor and Fen just very barely missed honorable mention status, too. Congratulations! :)

Whoa. At the risk of sounding falsely modest, because this comes from the heart, I am truly surprised the Waters of March is so well thought of. I really had no suspicion. When I reread it, I see the things I could have done better, of course.

Irresistable Poison was published pre-OotP, which was the cut off date for when a fic might be considered "new." It's definitely a CLASSIC classic, but not a NEW classic.

thanks for this list. These really are new, coz i haven't heard much of them @_@ i've started reading Eclipse last week and yes that deserves to be on top ;)
i thought The Veela Enigma was an Old Classic. or that's just me. *puts the fic on my queue*
we'll never run out of good fics to read. aren't we just happy slashers? :)

Thank you so much for compiling this rec list-- as someone fairly new to the H/D ship, this is like finding buried treasure. :)

I do have one question, though-- why does it say "The Shadow of His Wings" is completed? I could only access up to chapter 19 with the link provided.

Just gonna ask, hopefully with results.. Is 'The Shadow of His Wings' by Mirabella really completed? It's supposed to have 24 chaps + epilogue or something. But its up to chap 20 at the moment isn't it?

Sorry for the (super duper) delayed reply, but no, TSofHS is not complete. Wires were crossed somewhere in the information process, but the mistake's been corrected now.
